Pros And Cons Of Breast Implants

Breast implant surgery has become fairly common these days. Whether you have disproportionate breast size or you just want to lift up the sagging ones, women these days do not hesitate to go under the knife to get their body shaped exactly how they want. While it is a fairly safe procedure, there are definitely some important pros and cons of breast implants that you must know before you get them implanted into your body. Once you have a fair idea of the benefits and side effects, you should be able to decide if you really want to go ahead with it. This is what this blog intends to do. Here, we have listed down the pros and cons of breast implants in detail and we hope it helps you understand the process, its benefits, drawbacks and some possible alternatives.

Pros and Cons of Plastic Surgery

There are many reasons people, especially women, choose to undergo cosmetic surgery, some of which are personal to the individual. It is often thought that plastic surgery comes from a lack of self-acceptance or low self-esteem. However, as has already been stated, another major reason is the pressure from the media to be glamorous, thin, and beautiful. For certain people whose reason revolves around self-confidence, the results of cosmetic surgery can be life changing. An alteration to breasts that were too small or a nose that was too big can have a massive impact on a person’s life. The improved confidence can lead to a better social life and stronger relationships. So when considering the pros and cons of plastic surgery, particularly the pros and cons of breast implants, an increased self-confidence can be said to be a byproduct.

For other people, the primary reason they choose to go under the knife may be due to the emotional scars of bullying when they were younger, or other insecurities that stem from childhood. The mockery they endured because of their nose, teeth, or any other body part can have a lasting, negative impact on their lives. In addition, others may choose to have plastic surgery to hide physical scars or deformities. Millions of people undergo plastic surgery each year. Modern cosmetic surgeons can change or improve almost any aspect of physical appearance, from body shape to facial appearance. Whatever the reason, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of plastic surgery before one goes under the knife.

This article will cover both: from more appealing breast size and shape, confidence and rectifying deflated breasts after breastfeeding, to pain, scars after breast augmentation, breast enhancement cost and recovery, we will cover in detail, the pros and cons of breast implants.

So, what are breast implants’ benefits? When considering the pros and cons of breast implants the benefits are obviously clearly visible. But breast implants’ benefits go deeper than that. They can alter self-esteem, how you think about yourself and can be considered necessary for certain women who have been particularly affected by maternity. In this article we will cover three of the most salient breast implant benefits: size and shape, confidence, and restoring the body you once had.

Breast Size and Shape

The main, most apparent, and maybe most superficial advantage of breast augmentation, is fuller, firmer, and shapelier breasts. Breast size and shape can be addressed whether or not you have an underlying motivation that deems surgery necessary. If you have recently lost a significant amount of weight and your breasts have sagged or have got disproportioned, you can discuss the issue with your surgeon. He can help you decide the size that will look good on you and blend well with the overall shape of your body. If you always had smaller breasts, your surgeon can help you choose the correct implant material and size so you can get a well-proportioned body.

Breast Implant Benefits – Increased Self-Confidence

Some women with smaller breasts may feel somewhat self-conscious about the size of their breasts or embarrassed to be seen as “flat.” Getting implants can help you finally feel more confident about the shape and size of your breasts. Surveys of women who have had breast augmentation reveal that the majority of women note an improvement in their self-esteem and happiness with their appearance after the surgery. As far as benefits of breast implants go, increased self-confidence is a guarantee.

Deflated Breasts After Breastfeeding – Restore with Breast Implants

Although breastfeeding a baby has numerous benefits for mom and child, the practice tends to wreak havoc on the breasts in terms of seeing deflated breasts after breastfeeding. Even if yours were full before you breastfed, they might be deflated and saggy afterwards. Your breast may be full during the breastfeeding state but later on, the deflation can cause unhappiness in terms of the visibility of size. Implants can help them feel more confident about the shape and contour of their breasts. So this ties in with the previous benefit and as has been already stated, statistics reveal that woman feel an increased confidence after breast implantation.

Now let’s talk about breast enhancement’s costs or disadvantages. When weighing up the pros and cons of breast implants it is important to remember that while superficially you will look great, there are a few disadvantages that lie underneath the surface and you should carefully consider those as well before making a final decision. In this article, we will look at the cons we feel are most problematic: breast augmentation pain, scars after breast augmentation, breast enhancement costs, and breast implant removal recovery.

Breast Augmentation Pain

Breast implantation can accompany various risks. Breast augmentation pain is a much-discussed side effect of surgery so, it is necessary to choose a skilled, trained and experienced aesthetic plastic surgeon that intensifies your confidence and reduces the risk of any sort of complication post-surgery.  Complications can still occur after breast augmentation, for instance, pain in breast and some sensations and alterations in the nipples.

Another potential source of breast augmentation pain is the choice of implants. Implants should be in accordance with the shape and size otherwise entire procedure becomes useless, as the satisfactory results can’t be obtained and the body reacts adversely. For example, saline implants may be a choice for some women. But they are likely to cause evident rippling beneath the skin and an unnatural feel of the breast with accompanied pain.

Some women make a mistake of choosing the wrong implant that is way too large for their body frames, often the surgeon fail to recommend the appropriates size. Picking an over-sized implant can cause irregularities in the breast and make them look awkward in future and cause undue stress and pain on other parts of the body.

Scars After Breast Augmentation

Because breast enhancement is a surgical procedure, having scars after breast augmentation is inevitable. Thankfully, the scars will fade away with time just like any other surgical scar. However, the scars will be quite prominent till 18 months of the surgery, as this is the minimum time required for them to heal fully. Initially, they will look reddish or pinkish and will remain slightly raised on your skin. As they begin to heal, their color will start to fade and they will settle down right at the level of your skin. Once they have fully healed, the scars won’t be very noticeable. As mentioned, healing could take up to 18 months but in some cases, it can take less or more time depending on internal and external factors such as age, skin tone, sun exposure, overall health, and even genetics!

Breast Enhancement Cost

Breast enhancement can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and most of the time is not covered by insurance. Besides the initial cost of the implantation surgery, many surgeons recommend that patients get MRIs every three years to ensure there have been no leaks or ruptures. These are also costly and might also not be covered by your insurance. Hidden fees and consultation costs are all ways to ante up the bill and you should keep in mind that it is not a sure thing that you will be happy with your look after surgery and after spending all that money.

Explant Surgery – Breast Implant Removal Recovery

While breast implant’s benefits are numerous, it has some side effects too. In rare cases, patients may experience complications such as capsular contraction. Some women may not like implants and the way they shape their breasts. Patients who are suffering from breast cancer will have to get their implants removed. Whatever be the reason, you cannot ignore the fact that breast implant removal surgery may be required in the future, so it is better to learn about it before you get the implants done. This surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Depending upon your overall health and recovery process, it could take up to 3 hours and you may be discharged the same day.

As mentioned, the recovery time varies a lot but, thankfully, the breast implant removal recovery time is much less than the implanting surgery. If all goes well, you could return to your normal routine within 5 days. The recovery time is more in cases where explant surgery is done due to capsular contracture or any other disease. While you can resume most of your work within a week, you must not lift more than 5 kgs of weight or exercise vigorously for at least 6 weeks post surgery.

Breast Implants Before And After

What most women want to see first when considering the pros and cons of breast surgery and whether to go under the knife, are breast implants’ before and after pictures. We have provided a few examples of breast enhancement before and after but we would like to first say that it is no guarantee that your surgery and its outcome will end up looking like the breast augmentation recovery photos shown below.

Non-Surgical Breast Augmentation

Non-surgical breast enhancement or non-surgical breast enlargement products should be taken with a grain of salt. While they claim they will improve both breast size and shape naturally, without surgery, and while there are many different types of breast enlargement creams and pills available, close scrutiny will reveal some telltale signs that the products probably do not live up to the glory that they claim.

The products are not FDA-approved. Unlike breast implants, the federal government has not evaluated them for safety or effectiveness.

Non-surgical breast enhancement’s before and after photos may be suspect. If you look at the fine print on many of these products’, you may see the phrase “results not typical” under their photos, which should lead you to question whether they are real.

The products also fail to list the ingredients in them. Most of these non-surgical breast augmentation products claim to be “all-natural,” but a closer look usually reveals a list of the ingredients they use may be vague or lacking altogether.

There are a lot of misleading testimonials. Even if a product’s website has glowing testimonials, how can you be sure they come from real users? Fabrication and deception play critical roles in marketing the product’s efficacy.

There is a lack of scientific studies. The marketing copy for these products often contains ambiguous phrasing that may make it sound as if the companies developed them after doing plenty of research, but often, there is limited scientific evidence for the merits of using such concoctions. So how did they come up with it in the first place?

Q. How Much Do Cheap Breast Implants Cost?

A. Cheap breast augmentation is an option many turn to for affordable breast implants. The reason some are expensive and others are cheap is largely related to factors like experience of surgeon, choosing the right practitioner, the type of implant, the hospital amenities and anesthesia. While in Canada and the U.S. there is no such thing as cheap breast implants, people often go to places like Mexico and Bangkok to get prices up to 400% lower. You should keep in mind: cheap breast implants will be a cheap product, more susceptible to dangerous risks. Don’t think of cutting corners on this one.

Q. What Are Anatomical Breast Implants?

A. “Anatomical breast implants“, or “Gummy Bear breast implants” are silicone implants that use a strong cohesive gel to create a tear-drop appearance which imitates the natural shape and feel of female breasts. It has become a go-to recently for patients because of the desire to look more natural and avoid the ‘fake’ look.

Q. Does Non-Surgical Breast Enlargement Work?

A. Non-surgical breast enlargement companies will claim their products work but in reality, there is little evidence and almost no way of really knowing for sure.More and more people are gravitating towards this option because of its non-invasive nature but as has been mentioned earlier, it does have its inconsistencies, lack of evidence and false claims.

Final Word

This comparison of the pros and cons of breast implants was meant to educate and better inform. Because it is such a serious surgery and makes such a big change in your life both physically and emotionally it is important to be thoroughly informed on the subject before you decide to go through with it. The pros and cons of breast implants vary, just don’t be in a rush to have surgery and make a rash decision. It’s not worth the adverse effects to get a cheap surgery or one that hasn’t been made following a lot of research.

Study the list of pros and cons of breast implants, be sure of the type of implant, the size best suited for you and pick out a reputable authority in the industry. There is no point in saving a few dollars because not only will it show, but you will be exposed to all the risks that come with it.
