Overview & Ratings

With all the workout choices available, it can be difficult to find one that checks all the boxes for versatility, safety, and effectiveness. Elliptical training combines the calorie burning and cardiovascular effects of running with the upper and lower body workout of rowing to give you a complete workout at much less time. When you add in the advantage of being low impact, as well as the weight bearing properties to increase bone density as we age, elliptical training is a superior method of training for any level of fitness enthusiast. While there is some debate about the benefits of the Bowflex Max Trainer vs Elliptical training, today we are focusing on the Bowflex bxe116 Elliptical Machine. The Bowflex Elliptical Machine offers all of these health benefits and more.  Complete with personalized programming in real time, along with switch select foot plates, the Bowflex bxe116 Elliptical Machine is a sure bet for a fitter you.

The Bowflex Elliptical is relatively new to the market, and has many great performance tracking features that will allow any level of user to set goals and customize workouts. With the possibility of connecting to a results app and mixed reality training app, the sky is the limit for motivation when you use the Bowflex bxe116 Elliptical.

  • There’s Nothing “BLUE” About These Apps

Let’s face it, we live in a connected world. Everything happens online, and the Bowflex bxe116Elliptical capitalises on this by incorporating Bluetooth connectivity to two different apps. The convenience of having your fitness stats at your fingertips via your smartphone or tablet is a great perk.

  • Finally, a BACKLIT Console

The Bowflex Elliptical comes equipped with a 7.5 inch backlit LCD console in full color. Programmed with 9 “push and go” intuitive programs and designed to allow custom programming in real time, this computer has just about everything you need, and is easy to read to boot!

  • Tread Lightly

Ellipticals are low impact by nature, but the Bowflex bxe116 Elliptical will make you feel like you are walking on air. The pedals are extra large, and offer 3 different tilt settings for your heel toe angle. When you factor in the low impact cushioning on each pedal, as well as the possibility of a 10% incline, then you’ve got yourself the perfect blend of ease and versatility.

  • Integrated Handrail Speed and Incline Controls

Work out as hard or as light as you wish with these handy controls (see what I did there?) created to allow you to personalize your workouts to your exact needs. Vary your speed and resistance depending on your goals for each work out.

  • Burn Baby Burn

What can be more rewarding than seeing calories melt off each workout? Well, buckle up, because the Bowflex bxe116 Elliptical actually has a burn meter (NO, this is not an insult-o-meter) that allows you to see how many calories you are burning for every.single.minute. of your workout. If you want motivation, this is it.

  • Warranty

The warranty for the Bowflex Elliptical is:
    15 years for the frame.
    5 years for mechanical parts.
    5 years for electronics.
    2 years for labor.

  • Shipping and Assembly

Shipping rates may vary depending on suppliers, but you can order the Bowflex Elliptical from and receive free shipping. Make sure to check because you will often find sales and special offers for the Bowflex bxe116 Elliptical Trainer. Make sure to allow up to two hours for assembly of the Bowflex Elliptical. Even though the manual is fairly straightforward, there are a lot of pieces to assemble, and you will likely need two people to move the unit due to its weight. There is a small bottle of lubricant included with the parts, so make sure to lubricate the parts before assemblage and this will save you time and headaches later.

Our Likes

There are a lot of attractive and functional features to like on the Bowflex Elliptical. With so much to choose from, we picked our top four favourite features to share.

Our Dislikes

There are only two small drawbacks with regard to the design of the Bowflex Elliptical Machine. The first drawback is that you are only able to connect to the fitness apps via Bluetooth, not your phone or device to play music or make calls, and some users reported missing this option.

  • The other draw back is that stride length is not adjustable for different sized users, however, after studying the user reviews, most users found the stride length to be extremely comfortable and not an issue at all.

Our Verdict

The Bowflex Elliptical is a little bit of an investment, but it is most definitely worth the cost.  Whether you are a newbie to working out or are a go-hard or go-home type of athlete, you can find a program and resistance level to suit your individual needs.  With its low impact foot pedals, smooth 22” stride, and easy-to-use console, you will be well on your way to a healthier lifestyle when you purchase the Bowflex Elliptical Machine. Well-made machine

The Bowflex Elliptical provides an awesome workout. It is a well-made machine and runs very quietly. It is without a doubt one of the best purchases I have ever made, and I can’t even remember how I managed to stay in shape before!

Very sturdy

I love the Bowflex Elliptical. It took my husband and I 2 1/2 hours to put it together. The instructions were clear and parts are all marked to make assembly easier. The machine is BIG and heavy. This makes the elliptical very sturdy. There is not a single wobble when you use it at all.
